Rain played havoc with the Eastbourne scheduling yesterday, but the weather is expected to pick up again in south-east England as the weekend approaches.

Heather Watson bids to regain further confidence at Devonshire Park in her third-round clash with Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova.

But while the British wild-card has already earned herself some much-needed ranking points she may find the Russian ace tougher to turn over than Lesia Tsurenko and last year's winner Dominika Cibulkova, whom Watson upset 7-5 6-4 in her latest singles outing.

In the men's action on the south coast, British wild-card Cameron Norrie's reward for his gallant 6-4 7-6 defeat of Horacio Zeballos, who is having a decent campaign, is a date with second seed Gael Monfils.

Norrie, like Kyle Edmund born in Johannesburg, will hope to kick on, but Monfils could be keen to preserve his top-16 ranking after dropping a spot after his Halle loss to Richard Gasquet last week so the Frenchman may put on a show for his fans.

In Antalya, it seems that punters and bookmakers are expecting David Ferrer to come a cropper against Yuichi Sugita, a 6-1 6-3 winner against Matthew Ebden in his opener.

But it wasn't so long ago that Ferrer was the player to beat in regular trips to Den Bosch and the Spaniard is another who could see his Turkey trip as a decent opportunity to halt his drop in the rankings.

The best bet from the handful of matches that were known early last night could be Janko Tipsarevic to defeat Andreas Seppi. Both are competent on grass, but Seppi nearly dropped the second set in his 6-2 7-6 first-round victory over qualifier Kamil Majchrzak, while Tipsarevic was always in command in his 7-5 6-3 verdict over lucky-loser Lloyd Harris.
