After ending a five-game winless run, Lionel Messi’s Inter Miami will look to hold on to top spot in the MLS Eastern Conference when they host Nashville SC.

The Herons, who beat Sporting Kansas City 3-2 in front of the fourth-largest crowd in MLS history last Saturday, lead the East on goal difference. Second-placed New York Red Bulls, who have a game in hand on Miami, visit Los Angeles FC this weekend.

Having managed just one win in MLS this season, Nashville find themselves at the wrong end of the Eastern Conference table. Gary Smith’s men lost 2-1 to Philadelphia Union last time out, and are only three points above bottom team New England – albeit they have played two games fewer than Miami.

This will be Miami and Nashville’s third meeting already in 2024: the teams also faced off in the last 16 of the CONCACAF Champions Cup, the Floridians winning 5-3 on aggregate.
