As the Paris 2024 Olympic Games are underway, golf enthusiasts can once again look forward to witnessing the world’s best golfers compete on the international stage. Following the rules set since Rio 2016, the official list for Paris 2024 comprises the top 60 players based on the Olympic Golf Ranking. Notably, Mexico will be represented by Abraham Ancer and Carlos Ortiz, two golfers competing on the alternative golf circuit – LIV Golf.

The National Olympic Committees (NOCs) have exclusive authority over the representation of their countries at the Olympic Games. Therefore, each athlete’s participation in the Paris Games will depend on their NOC’s selection to represent their delegation at Paris 2024.

How did Ortiz and Ancer qualify for the Olympic golf tournament?

Ancer and Ortiz are scheduled to compete at the Le Golf National “Albatros” course from August 1 to 4. During this time, they will be going against the World Golf Ranking No. 1, Scottie Scheffler, the current champion of The Masters. The United States will be the only country with four representatives due to Scheffler, Xander Schauffele, Wyndham Clark, and Collin Morikawa ranking within the Top 15.
